Doctor Scott Cohen

SCOTT W. COHEN, MD, FAAP, is a board certified physician who has created a new philosophy in pediatrics. With the motto, “The best doctors are teachers,” Dr. Scott, as his patients refer to him, has developed a program called COMMON SENSE PARENTING where he educates patients and families on how to raise healthy children stress free. This approach is highlighted in his book, Eat, Sleep, Poop A Common Sense Guide to Your Baby’s First Year published by Scribner/Simon and Schuster and the rights have been optioned by DreamWorks for an upcoming movie.

Dr. Cohen grew up in Maryland and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Cornell University. In 2000, he graduated from the University of Miami School of Medicine, and completed his pediatric training in 2003, from Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, one of the top pediatric training facilities in the country. While at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles, he was the recipient of the Victor E. Stork Award for continued excellence and future promise in the care of children and the Associates and Affiliates award for scientific knowledge, clinical judgment and excellence in human relations. He was also awarded the Community Service Award for helping to develop Helping Hands for Children, a curriculum that teaches pediatricians to effectively advocate for the needs of children.

Dr. Cohen is the co-founder of Beverly Hills Pediatrics, where he currently practices. He was awarded Pediatrician of the Year in 2006 and was the recipient of the Physician Recognition Award in Pediatrics in 2005 and 2008 from Cedars Sinai Medical Center, where he is an attending and active member of the teaching staff. Dr. Cohen was also selected as one of the Best Doctors in America 2007-2012. The “Best Doctors” represents the top 5 percent of physicians in the United States based on a peer-reviewed poll.

He has appeared on 98.7’s FM radio talk show Therapy Thursdays with Jamie, Jack, and Stench, where he answered questions on pediatric topics for thousands of listeners. He served as an expert reviewer for The Power of Your Child’s Imagination by Charlotte Reznick, PH.D and the Los Angeles Times bestseller The A to Z Guide to Raising Happy, Confident Kids by Dr. Jenn Berman as well as a contributer to her newest book Superbaby. In addition, he wrote the foreword for Skinny Bitch Bun in the Oven by Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin and he was an editor for the popular medical text Pediatric Ophthalmology for Primary Care by renowned pediatric ophthalmologist Kenneth Wright, MD. Dr. Cohen is also a national speaker for Mead Johnson teaching about the importance of omega-3 fatty acids in brain development, cognition, and visual acuity in growing children.

Dr. Cohen lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two daughters.
